Some newbie server owners want to run their servers on their phone/tablet rather then a proper computer. Which is way more powerful, provided it's not ancient and doesn't have any so-called "bloatware". My question is, why would anyone want to do this? The only thing you get is trouble as I shall explain.

First of all, servers run hideously slow on them. I tried the app out myself and I got 18tps at the most (you're supposed to have 20tps all the time). Now I know the difference is small. But the result is, you get dragged back constantly and chunks take ages to load. My tablet isn't even very old and runs perfect most of time.

The second is compatibility. It seems a lot of plugins (including one of mine) crash when they try to
read files or download info from websites. Also I've seen 1.4 crashing a lot on these devices. I admit I've only read these reports (or screams for help as it should be known) vaguely. So I can't be sure if this is a problem on PocketMine's side or just something the user did wrong.

I've tried to see the positives sides. But honestly, I always find a better solution then running PocketMine-MP on a smaller device. So I've decided to resort to the community in a hope for an answer. So leave your feedback below. Oh, and please be constructive about it.

You really shouldn't run a server on a computer either. Unless you have business class internet or better, your server will be really slow and unplayable.

Maybe people use their phones/tablets so they can have a 'mobile server' with plugins? I can't find any other reason people would want one though.

Even with and Enterprise software and hosting (Ex. My RedHat Enterprise server) it also depend on the client internet to play on servers, maybe the host is the best in the world, but if the client has the worst internet on the world, it will have tons of issues...

So, if with an Enterprise host, players can get troubles... Servers hosted on Smartphones will be worse.....

Yes, that's true with any internet connected service. The operating system really doesn't have anything to do with it though. o_O

Some people just think they can host a server because they here their device is quad core and has 1-2 gbs of ram but a cpu on a small device is about 2 times smaller then a computer one android uses up 500-1000 mbs of ram so you can only open a server with 256 mbs of ram if you dont want to lag. And have to limit the player limit to 1-5 players and i have a feeling they will have to lower 1-2 players in this update.

I mean memory as RAM, not storage space. That is more memory than my laptop.

My internet can do 50MB per second. Never have downloads taken more then a few minutes and never have videos needed to buffer. Although I admit when I ran PocketMine-MP on my tablet I had a lot of apps. I don't know how many were running though. I don't actually know my specs. So I may have to take a look at that as well.

@IwolfIDoesMcpe said he had 900 megabytes. You don't see most tablets these days have 2-3 gigabytes of ram and if they do they have a insane price tag lol.

To be honest I prefer use PocketMine on Ubuntu Server because it is very light but I think that Android and IOS are very good solutions for make a temporary server to play with your friends.
Obviously if you want to run a public server I don't recommend to use Android or IOS

First of all because of 4G LTE internet second of all portability so you dont need that old fashioned RCON Third, the way of transfering plugins. The only thing to copy the plugins is a MicroSD adapter and Copy & Paste button on your PC
