?

Do you think this theory is possible and that it can reduce lag or bandwidth use?

  1. It is just impossible! Mojang won't give you the chance to try it!

    14.3%
  2. It is absolutely possible! It can help the servers with many laggy worlds!

    42.9%
  3. It is possible, it will send less data but lag still occurs because.

    42.9%
  4. What the. Where is your imagination? I have the most correct answer and the poll doesn't include a h

Adding to the post, this system can avoid players finding coordinates of blocks or entities using client-side mods.

Like if a player uses a mod to find the coords of a block, that coords isn't the exact coords.

And and BTW @shoghicp reads every thread in this forum except this :p

I'm going to write a proof of theory for this.

I don't see where is the problem with infinite world.
In bukkit, as i know, only the few chunks around the player are sent to the client.
Chunks are loaded (and unloaded) one by ones when the player move. And they are small.
If the player TP, i'm agree that more chuncks are loaded. But it depends on a config parameter (distance view or another like this).
    You can reduce it.
In the vanilla Minecraft, players never tp. To avoid lag, an idea is to limit tp too.

I didn't say it is a problem. It is multi-world teleporting that is the problem because the client had to download all chunks around again, so maybe we can use it as a tool to speed up the loading.

You want to use infinite world to simulate multi world ?

    Yes.
No. It is for 0.9.0 that implements multiple worlds by cutting infinite worlds.

No. That is a plugin that creates fake infinite worlds, usingn a method I invented months ago. This time, it is the opposite. The infinite world plugin uses multiple worlds to support an infinite world, and in this theory, I suggest using infinite worlds to support multiple worlds so that we don't gave to send the chunks again.

    ok i understand !

I think too it's better to use one infinite world instead of multiple world.

World border only limits people in an area as far as I know.

Yes but in bukkit/minecraft PC it's useless now because it's now possible to generate a world with natural limits (mountains for example)

PEMapModder, your idea is good but I think there is only two good reasons to add a new world :
    1) You need to regenerate it regularly while you don't want to regenerate the main world
    2) You want to use another worldGenerator
Those cases, for me, are not compatible with your idea ?

This doesn't affect. If you regenerate the world, just resend the chunks. Otherwise just send regular block changes; it won't hurt.

For world generators, it is only server-side problem. I'm talking about the client side.

Since you all don't understand,I think writing a proof of theory is better.

I re-read this thread, I think I understand it now. So your saying small worlds should be merged into an infinite world to minimize chunk updates?
