Not really... the most common reason why people (especially businesses) still use XP is often because of the following reasons:
1. Retired people who cannot afford a newer PC
2. Some older programs won't work on newer PCs. Many businesses STILL are stuck on XP because of some stupid program (or many programs) that doesn't support a newer OS.
No wonder PM stopped supporting XP...
Anyways, let's get back on topic.
Still on the topic of XP:
1. I don't see retired people wanting to attempt to make a server.
2. Most businesses that have programs on OLD pcs that also have new PCs too.
When PHP stops supporting a certain OS, then after a long while, so will PocketMine.
I was talking about XP in general.
The new official 0.16 branch is already running well thanks to the amazingly difficult, unpaid and unseen work of the new PMMP team In case anyone missed it, you can download the source code here: https://github.com/pmmp/PocketMine-MP/tree/0.16 and it looks like a shiny website and a new plugin release system are in the works!
Its compatable with windows now right? Last time I checked, pmmp was only available for Linux.
PocketMine is compatible with any OS that supports PHP, so yes that would include Windows. It's easier to install PocketMine on Linux, yes, but luckily @TheDeibo has made a graphical installer that simplifys the process. I've used it before, it's very a very good option for installing PocketMine on windows.
I'd love to help anyway I can with any spoon or fork that is actually going to keep going. I'm not much of a coder though, and probably can't contribute much. I just really want a way to run a MCPE server for my kids without having to pay for a service every month. If Phoenix is going to be serious, and better then the slow Genesys I've been using for a while now since PM stopped updating it's phar's, then let me know what I can do.
Genisys is feature rich but uses double the memory of PocketMine. Another option is ClearSky, i've hear it's good and won't leak your memory.
I got banned because of posting a link to <censored> and <censored> forums, it was absolutely my fault xD
"lol, no" to the first or second sentence? Also, I am not stating an opinion, this is what many mcpe server owners running on genisys say.
Um, PocketMine is updating again, which is what lots of the latest posts in this thread are about. They just moved repositories. It's now at: https://github.com/pmmp/PocketMine-MP
No, it's not really that good. Have you actually tried it yourself? Because if you haven't, than don't. Trust me, just stick with PocketMine.
I don't know if anyone has missed the memo, but this is PocketMIne
Genisys is rich in game features. There is no true innovation from Genisys worth mentioning.
Fair warning by the way, we are discussing some very large planned changes to the core over the coming months.
If pmmp works out, then your main competitor would be Nukkit because
1. It as a large community (not as big as PM's though)
2. It receives active updates (not updated to 0.16 yet, but will wait a couple of days)
3. It has a decent amount of plugins ( again, not as much as PM's though)
P.S I am not advertising for nukkit!
For Genisys or pmmp?
Tried Genisys or ClearSky? I have tried Genisys, not ClearSky.
It's true, PocketMine-MP was the best, is the best, and will be the best.
