Spigot doesn't have a bunch of paid stuff .. 80% of the plugins there are free ..... Your point is? How will it hurt PocketMine?

I am always against paid software. If you want to get motive for making high quality plugins, let people donate to you. If your plugins are indeed good they will donate to you, like how people donated to PocketMine.

It is controversial whether one should close source his software (or make it paid only), so I only have one statement:

This is just not true. I can speak from experience both first and second hand, most remarkable was LWC for PC. Hidendra received an extremely underwhelming amount in all of the years combined that he has been developing and maintaining the most popular and best chest lock system for Hey0 Mod/Bukkit.

You simply don't make enough off taking donations.

Now does that mean that we need a section for paid content? Hell no. Don't allow paid content period, but allow us an easier way to get in contact with people whom are willing to pay us for our time spent creating the plugins. Leet.cc is a great example, they approached me and offered me a hourly rate and provided me with a few projects that needed doing. Some of the plugins have found their way back onto pocketmine.net for free and more will come provided they are fit for public release.

That depends on what consider as enough. If you expect plugin development as a proper job, you are daydreaming. If you simply developed it for public use, you should expect nothing in return, and if you do get any, it should be extra. Plugin development requires no costs except the time you put into it.

    Time is money.
More than 3 digits across 5-7 years. I don't think he broke 500 USD... Which is horrendously bad considering the amount of people whom depended on it, even large networks.

If you're a really popular plugin developer and you're going to go to college in a year or so, then this idea is probably one of the easiest ways to make money.

I don't completely agree with this...
In the side of "giving devs incentives for keeping the good work up" i completely agree, with that, the good developers will continue with good work, but there are other ways to achieve this... As some lost above already suggested, this may point out piracy for plugins, with already exists, but doesn't matter.
What I suggest is the allowance of a "Donate" button... This will allow people that REALLY want to support the development of the plugin to help... In other way, "fake" developers will start selling "ideas" instead of "plugins"... Just like some other people that have their own "PocketMine-MP Plugin store", they sell the best minigame ever, but it is WAY buggy, laggy and doesn't implement all the given features...

So, in less words: "Better to allow donations for Plugin devs, do not sell"

@iksaku, you seem to directly tell someone that... Lol. Minigames + Buggy = @MCG76
An equation you will learn while making and downloading plugins.
