    I appreciate all help! Oh, and I would like you to tell me what is wrong with it, how I can fix it, and I don't want anyone to fix it themselves. I really want to learn!

    first read the red line in my signature. second i dont think directly adding the file name, without any full paths nor quotes, would or should ever succeed. Instead use file_get_contents(FILE_PATH."ops.txt") to access the contents in the file. Moreover a logical thinking is that, would php interpret the dot in the filename as a string adding operator? Because, any words (one word is defined as a group of characterd isolated by non-variable characters, i.e. non-(a-z, 0-9, A-Z, _)) that are not keywords are interpreted as a constant name, if not following a $ or -> and not followed by a ::
