    Hi there!

Since my desktop computer went to the fritz, I decided to revive an old domain and put it to use. And with that setup a Hostname Registration Service over at Shadowhost.ie. The process simplifies the service alike to no-ip, but with less maintenance. All done through requests to the website.

This is to aid any server owner who wants a more classy name than lets say no-ip. It also makes your server sound more legit! Said Everyone ;)

Once again I'm offering this service for free but donations are happily accepted to pay for the domain in the future and for coffee <3. I hope people will use this though :)

    Still confused what this does?

It turns a numeric IP (8.8.8.8) to a text IP (A Hostname) Example (hostname.shadowhost.ie)

    8.8.8.8 --> Epicserver.shadowhost.ie

So any player can now join your server at Epicserver.shadowhost.ie

We'll even forward the hostname to another hostname for one month if you decide to buy a domain ! :)

No sorry, not until I get more domains. But shadowhost is still nice!

atm, no-ip.com has more domains, but this is a lot more user-friendly and doesn't have those annoying re-activation systems for the free domais :)

As I say on the about page of the website, this is minimalist so no maintenance is required :)

And besides, this is just a project done over the space of three hours. So If people want to use it, then great :)

Yes, but that you have to configure all kinds of DNS and domain pointing. This little service is more friendly to newbies.

No it's very simple, just put in the numeric IP of your server and when someone joins with yourServer.tk then it will accelerate the connection and they will join even faster than before!

I personally prefer using freenom.com with there .ML domains and using NameCheap DNS sevice (It's Free) I'm not trying to advertise lol its just my opinion since they also provide automatic DNS updaters

This is probably even more simple, no need for any sign up.

And plus, try fill out the form properly! :) You put in a hostname for the Server Direct IP Which should be a numeric IP. Your actual IP.

What you could do is default that form asking for the IP to the IP address used by the browser. If the person is using a server behind the same router as the server, chances are that it would be the right address. If not, they can always change it.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I'll probably get around to it. But some people use VPS' for their server so they might not like that in the sense that if they're trying to register their VPS IP rather then their home computer.

@iamadpond What sort of stack are you using to accomplish this? I have been wanting to do something like this with mcpe.me but I don't know where to host it on my no existent budget.

@Falk Google or AWS's DNS service? They're like $1 for 1 million queries I think. Or you could host your own authoritative DNS server and link it to a form / panel.

Looking here http://who.is/dns/shadowhost.ie it looks like he uses CloudFlare for his DNS service.

I already had a chat with @iamadpond about it. I just haven't had enough time to implement it.

EDIT: The service is now available at http://mcpe.me. I will make my own thread too.
