NO. PocketMine is a clean-room implementation, none of it is bound by the EULA. For all intents and purposes, it is just a piece of software which happens to allow MCPE clients to connect. No relation to MCPE.
Why is spigot different??? Hypixel runs on spigot but had to follow the Eula terms, is Spigot something to do with Mojang? I think Bukkit is owned by Mojang, but not spigot
Spigot is Bukkit, just with added features. The reason why Bukkit/Spigot servers need to follow the EULA is because Craftbukkit and the Spigot server are built off of the vanilla Minecraft server client, binding those pieces of software to Mojang's EULA. It's not our job to police servers. For the most part, I doubt Mojang will ever do anything unless they get lots of complaints about a specific server where it becomes an issue for them. They put out that statement of theirs mostly for legal reasons. Most big server networks, for their own safety, now follow the EULA (such as Hypixel, HiveMC, Shotbow, Mineplex, etc) because those are the servers given the most spotlight and would be reported more often than little Bobby's 10 player slot survival server.
You are bound to what you offer to MCPE clients. PocketMine itself is not affected by the EULA, but you can't sell non-approved things to the client as that one is bound.
Except someone linked me to it in a chat, I never saw that EULA. Now you're telling me you want me to follow something I never read when I purchased MCPE?
Shogicp sometimes says to people "You're Broken!" when someone tries to complain about PocketMine (E.G "SHOGICP ###### IS BROKEN IN POCKETMINE")
So I am assuming hopefully that pocketmine will never face such thing like what happened to bukkit and its problem with eula? I mean Shogicp is a staff at mojang in MCPE division so he atleast has some influence...
PocketMine uses a different license that (I believe) protects against any contributor making a copyright takedown like what happened to Bukkit. Mojang didn't cause the downfall of Bukkit. They tried to save it after it was abandoned, but a previous developer made a copyright takedown and they couldn't do anything. Mojang won't shut PocketMine down. Servers are a big influence on MCPE now and keeps players interested, as well as gives incentive for new buyers. And now with @shoghicp there, he will definitely make sure PocketMine stays out of trouble and won't add features that will endanger its existence.
I know this is an old thread, but I'm still not clear from the above on where PM server owners stand in relation to the EULA. I suppose as long as LB is allowed to sell everything they sell, us small server owners are ok? Also, shoghicp has made absolutely sure PM stays out of trouble - no new features since he joined Mojang! That said, I can't help but remain optimistic for the future of PocketMine...
