Default settings run like garbage

Hi everyone. I'm trying to run a small server for playing locally, only on my LAN. Probably 2-3 devices max.

I tried running Pocketmine out of the box, no changes to any settings. Ran like garbage. Wouldn't generate any new terrain, and getting tons of "Player moved wrongly", and "Is the server overloaded?" error messages.

I read a few threads here, and decided to change my pocketmine.yml settings a bit. Here is what I changed:

    per-tick: 2
    compression-level: 8
    max-chunks: 56

It runs a tiny bit better. It is now generating more terrain, but still giving me lots of "Player moved wrongly" messages.

    Should I change anything else?

The server is running a AMD FX-8320, and 8gb 1600mhz DDR3 CL9. The software is sitting on an SSD too.

Yes. But I run Xubuntu Linux on another PC, and I was considering trying it on that one.

Either way, I think its something not configured correctly.

Thanks for the advice, but surely that can't be the source of the problem.

Are you suggesting it can't be configured to work acceptably in Windows.

I'm not sure, I know just by looking at the forums and seeing other people with performance problems that Linux (preferably Ubuntu) runs PocketMine the best.

I have the same problem, a lot of "Can't keep it up!" and player teleport back problems.

I guess is a Windows problem.

To prevent that you can use the "Soft" distribution of PocketMine-MP and inside its settings disable the "check movement" option

@iksaku Enabling ANY option from Soft WILL break the server in some way. You can find a lot of videos of players "ghosting" around in servers, caused by running Soft and touching those options as them being safe.

The defaults for PocketMine-MP must work for ALL servers. This causes lots of options to not to be optimized.
The difference of using Soft vs normal PocketMine is not like CraftBukkit vs Spigot. PocketMine already has all kind of options and optimizations, but you must read the configuration file (pocketmine.yml) and tune it. For example, you can move world generation from the main thread to another one and it won't cause issues. It'll generate slower overall, but heh, it's an option.
